Love the Moment

Love the moment.
Flowers grow out of dark moments.
Therefore, each moment is vital.
It affects the whole.
Life is a succession of such moments and to live each, is to succeed.
— Corina Kent

Some moments are hard to love, aren't they?  Sometimes life seems out of control despite our best efforts to have everything work out "perfectly." Some moments are dark, and we think the light will never shine again. In the dark trials of life we have a choice. We can become bitter and resent what we're experiencing, or we can choose like the flower, to grow.

At times, we may do OK. We may hold it together. Other times we may feel like we're taking one step forward and two steps back. As my yoga teacher said the other day, the point is trying. Of course she was talking about doing a yoga pose. She wanted to make sure we understood that it wasn't about our flexiblity or how perfectly we could do the pose: the point of yoga is trying to do the pose.

As I was bending in some contorted state with sweat dripping off of me, I thought how true her words were for life. The point is that we try not that we achieve perfection. It's not about having everything work out the way we want it to. It's about giving it our all and loving what is. It is about being open to the lesson and the beauty that can be found in the darkness.
