I am continually mystified as to why those in leadership can't see that a simple and cost-effective way to motivate people to work harder can be found in recognizing their employees' accomplishments and showing them they are valued. Showing appreciation is something that costs very little yet matters so very much. I've worked for managers and companies over the years that have given either no or little appreciation so I know what it feels like.
What also makes me sad is when I hear stories of co-workers being unhelpful, inconsiderate or rude to their colleagues.
We spend most of our waking hours at work so let's make the choice each day to spread kindness. As I've written about in Put a Little Love in Your Heart, what you give boomerangs backs to you. If you want a good life filled with happiness, joy, peace, abundance and all that good stuff, inject kindness into more and more areas of your day. It's that simple.
