Simply Nature is Simply Beautiful!

“There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling. It's why you were born. And how you become most truly alive."—  Oprah

What do you love to do? What makes you feel joy? What talents and gifts do you have?

One of my jobs that I enjoy the most is facilitating workshops that increase people’s self-awareness and encourage them to live to their fullest potential. One of these seminars is on personality types and in it I ask people to make a list of their strengths. Every session I watch as participants struggle to create a list of their talents and positive qualities. I find this sad. These are professional men and women ranging in age from their 20’s to their 60’s and they have difficulty describing their strengths.

We are all gifted in different ways. And it’s not that one person’s gift is better or more valuable than another’s.  We are all here with a purpose and part of that purpose is to fully use our gifts; to honour the way we were created.

My friend, Sara, has many talents and one of them is photography. While initially she was a bit resistant to share her photos in a blog, she eventually did start one and her photo blog, Simply Nature, is a big hit around the world. Check it out for stunning nature pictures.

Here is my interview with her:

BDL (Believe, Dream, Love): Were you always interested in photography? When did this interest start?
SN (Simply Nature): I've always had an interest in taking pictures and enjoyed doing so.  Last Spring I decided to buy a Canon DSLR and that's when my interest really took off.  Every weekend my significant other and I head out to a trail and go for a nature walk and in the summer we go during the week.  I've focused my photos on nature since I've always loved being outdoors.
BDL: What is your inspiration for your posts?
SN: Anything outdoors and related to nature!
BDL: How long does it take you to do a post?
SN: I usually go out on a couple nature walks on the weekend.  Once I'm back at home I sit down and edit my photos using Adobe Lightroom.  After that, I'll decide on a couple posts and upload them to Blogger.  It doesn't take longer than an hour to go through and edit my photos -  posting is the easy part :)
BDL: What is your favourite Simply Nature post?
SN: A couple of my favourites are " I Heart Nature" and "My Favourite Nuthatch"
BDL: I like those ones too! What other blogs do you enjoy reading... besides this one of course!? Ha!
SN: Some photo blogs that I really enjoy can be found on my blog.  I try to visit them daily.  I also love Hare Styling for the Home and The Dull Co-worker!
BDL: What made you decide to start the blog?
SN: A couple friends inspired me to start my blog - Melissa from Hare Styling and RJ (yourself!)  I noticed how much fun and joy blogging brought to you both so I couldn't help but join in.  It's also great to have friends and family who take a interest in your hobbies!
BDL: Do you have anything to say to all the readers out there who are thinking of starting a blog but haven't yet taken that step?
SN: I'd say that you should definitely go for it. I've noticed that I've become more interested in photography and nature because of my blog.  It's a great way of finding other people who share the same interests as well.  I really appreciate everyone who stops by and visits my blog.

Here is a sample of what you'll find on her site:
