Love is in the Details: My Interview with Hare Styling

“Decorating is not about making stage sets, it’s not about making pretty pictures for the magazines; it’s really about creating a quality of life, a beauty that nourishes the soul.”
 – Albert Hadley

A couple weeks ago, I featured popular photography blogger, Sara, of Simply Nature. This week I sat down with another popular blogger, Melissa Hare of Hare Styling For The Home.

Like Sara, Melissa initially doubted her natural talents and gifts.  After overcoming her reservations, she now confidently shares her love of interior design. She has even been profiled on some of her favourite blogs.

Sara and Melissa are fabulous examples of how you can turn a passion into something that can touch the lives of others.

BDL (Believe Dream Love): What is your blog about?
HS (Hare Styling): Interior styling, personal projects and a few of my favourite finds!

BDL: Have you always liked interior design?
HS: I’ve always been intrigued by interior design. I spent a lot of my younger years working in my father's lighting store. I was constantly exposed to that element of design.

BDL: When did you start this blog?
HS: August 2010

BDL:What inspired you to start this blog?
HS: My cousin had a personal blog and from there I discovered other interior design blogs. I enjoyed reading them so much that I secretly decided to start my own. I was so nervous to share it publicly at first so I created it and shared it only with my husband, the Dull Co-Worker and Sara. Their enthusiasm and positive feedback made me feel confident enough to start telling other friends and family.

BDL: I like the name Hare Styling. Can you tell me how you came up with that name?
HS: It started as a joke when I was trying to use my married name as a play on words. When I first told my girlfriends about it, there was silence... and crickets. I was the only one laughing. Now they tell me they love it.

BDL: What is your favourite blog post of yours?
HS: Hmmm. I would have to say the one on my bedroom project. It seems to have received the most number of views. It has also been profiled on some of my favourite blogs. That might be one of the best feelings, seeing your work profiled by people that inspire you!

BDL: That must make you feel good.
HS: Yes. Nothing beats that feeling.

BDL: Who are some of your favourite bloggers?
HS: Other than The Dull Co-worker and Simply Nature, my favourite interior design blogs are Made By Girl, Cheeky D in Heels (my cousin's blog!), Isabella and Max Rooms, Marcus Design (Canadian blog), Wallpaper (Canadian) and Hey Gorgeous (a fab wedding blog).

BDL: How many views do you get a month?
HS: Over 4000. This might not be a lot for most bloggers but for me, it's huge! I'm ecstatic.

BDL: What do you aspire to achieve with this blog?
HS: One day I would love to start my own e-decorating business!

BDL: Is there anything else you want your readers to know about?
HS: Thank you so much for this opportunity. I love connecting with other bloggers!

BDL: Is there you would you say to those out there who are thinking of starting their own blog?
HS: If you’re feeling inspired by someone else’s blog, know you can do it too.
