Be the Sunshine

Do you ever have one of those blah days? You know, the kind where things just seem dull and unexciting? Maybe the weather is dreary and the sky is grey and you’re longing for sunshine and warmer temperatures.

To put yourself in a better frame of mind, try being the sunshine to those you encounter that day. Give a smile to everyone you meet…even to those you don’t know. Do it and don’t worry about what they think of you. Remember, fear is an illusion the world sells. It’s not real; it just exists in your mind.

When people ask how you’re doing, say you’re “fabulous” and ask how they are…then take a moment to put aside your thoughts and really listen.

Give someone a genuine compliment even though you may not know them. You could just make their day. This morning I was getting coffee and a stranger told me they loved my coat and noticed it when I got out of my car. I thanked the lady and told her I really appreciated the compliment. She seemed happy with that. Two people were made happy by a simple thirty second exchange of words.

Being the sun and bringing warmth to someone’s day often times costs nothing.  And when you give warmth and good vibes away, positive energy and positive circumstances come back to you. By spreading love you bring more love into your life. As Gandhi said, “be the change you want to see in the world”. If you want the sun, be the sun. If you want people to be kind, generous, and loving, then focus your efforts on being kind, generous and everyone not just those you like.

Create the day and the life you want by being what you want to experience.

Today, try being the sunshine and warm others with your smile, your kindness, your compassion and feel your spirits lift.
